3D printing of tools
Thürmer Tools 3D prints tools and compares them to traditionally manufactured tools. We are testing the 3D printet tools with fatigue tests and applications trials
Thürmer Tools is a Danish company that has been developing and manufacturing a wide range of cutting tools for more than 100 years, including tools for cutting threads in holes for bolts to be fastened.
Demonstration project in MADE context
As a part of MADE (the Manufacturing Academy of Denmark), which aims to strengthen manufacturing in Denmark, Thürmer Tools initiated a demonstration project to compare the characteristics of 3D printed tools with those of traditionally manufactured tools.
Just in time saves inventory space
3D printing presents new opportunities for threading tool design, offering better cooling and higher durability. Furthermore, the customer can have their tool 3D printed on demand so that Thürmer Tools saves inventory space.
We are testing the 3D printed tools with fatigues tests and application trials. The evaluation of the results will be ready in early 2016.
