FORCE Technology has opened a new green test centre in North Zealand
The new Danish Test Centre for Bioenergy provides companies and researchers within bioenergy with an opportunity to perform full scale tests and test new fuel types and technologies.
The test centre is located in the city of Frederiksværk in North Zealand and is a public-private partnership between FORCE Technology and Halsnæs Forsyning A/S.
The test centre has been established based on our in-depth study of the research and development needs in the Danish biomass CHP plant business. The study showed a need to improve efficiency and reduce operating and maintenance costs.
Furthermore, the business needs to develop technologies in order to use unusual fuels with ’challenging’ properties, which may contribute to lowering the operating costs.
With the test centre, situated at Halsnæs Forsyning A/S’s biomass fired district heating plant, we have established a test environment, where realistic full scale tests and measurements can be performed on new fuels and technologies.
Test facilities and possibilitiesIn connection with the establishment of the test centre, a new wood pellet boiler was installed at the district heating plant. The boiler is equipped with extensive features that make it possible to test the entire course from fuel to district heating. The new boiler will play an important role at the test centre.
The test will be part of the daily operation and thus enjoy the benefit of the in-depth knowledge that the operators have of the plant.
Supports local businessesWe are certain that the test centre will successfully support the development of the solid bioenergy businesses and that researchers within bioenergy will welcome it. Furthermore, we hope that the test centre eventually will support local development in Halsnæs Municipality.
The co-operation with Halsnæs Forsyning A/S is not just a benefit for local businesses. As part of our obligations as a GTS company, the test centre provides us with the opportunity of structuring and developing new technological competences and services for the benefit of other Danish companies.
