Non-destructive testing (NDT) services
We offer standard and advanced NDT services, onshore, offshore & subsea. NDT is fundamental in ensuring the safety of assets for personnel, environment and investors.
Failure of a component, structure or weld can cause significant hazard to the environment and often leads to significant costs. Ensure safe, continuous and cost effective performance of your asset, basing your decisions on reliable NDT-data on the assets condition.
We deliver NDT services to all industries during fabrication, in-service as well as during shut downs and maintenance. Decades of experience and the largest training facilities for NDT allows us to provide high quality services at all times.
We offer:
- Ultrasonic testing (UT)
- Radiography testing (RT)
- Visual Testing (VT)
- Eddy Current testing (ET)
- Penetrant testing/Dye penetrant testing (PT/DPI)
- Magnetic particle testing (MP)
- Leak testing (LT)
- In-service inspection
Advanced NDT techniques
FORCE Technology is world leading supplier within advanced NDT/inspection techniques and supply a large variety of customised inspection solutions, both onshore and subsea. We supply advanced inspection techniques such as:
- Phased Array (PAUT)
- Digital Radiography
- P-Scan
- ToFD
- 3D MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage),
but our largest area of business includes tailor made solutions for technical challenges.
Standard NDT methods & applications
Ultrasonic testing (UT)
Ultrasonic testing is our speciality, and we can deliver anything from standard manual inspections with standard equipment to highly advanced automated Phased Array scanners. Furthermore, we customise and adapt our equipment to focus on the customers need to find defects such as as cracks and corrosion.
The P-scan stack system can be applied for various NDT inspection jobs, providing a clear visualisation and reliable data. Click here to read more about the p-scan stack system.Radiography testing (RT)
Digital radiography of concrete
Our portable X-ray Betatron produces X-ray beams with an energy level of 7.5 MeV. With such high energy, X-raying can penetrate thick concrete (up to 1.5 m) and steel structures to reveals the inside of the structure.X-ray provides information about:
- Reinforcement details, configuration, position, depth, amount and dimension.
- Void detection in concrete or in cable ducts grouted with mortar including size of void
- Damage on reinforcement or embedded steel parts
- Thickness measurements
Visual testing (VT)
Eddy current testing (ET)
Eddy Current Testing (ET) is mainly used for surface crack detection on metallic materials, but also to detect corrosion on thin materials. The main advantage compared to MT and PT, which also detect surface cracks, is that it can test trough 1-2mm of coating. Eddy Current is a highly sensitive tool that provides quick results with minimum preparation.
In certain cases, we have developed probes and techniques that detect defects trough up to 10mm coating.
Penetrant testing (PT)
Liquid penetrant testing (PT) is an NDT method that is excellent to detect surface breaking flaws. A bright red dye is applied to the surface before being cleaned and thereafter being painted with a white developer. This allows it to penetrate into any flaws (which draws out the red dye), making it much easier to detect with the naked eye.
We typically use this technique for detecting:
- Cracks
- Pin holes in welds
- Fractures
- Seams
- Welding imperfections
