Use cases

Use SenseLab rooms and setups for listening tests, recordings, HATS tasks and multichannel reproduction under controlled conditions.

Blind listening tests

Use the listening booths for blind testing of recordings and audio products. The booths provide controlled and neutral spaces with low background noise and controlled acoustic properties for blind testing paradigms.

Multichannel reproduction

Use the listening room for calibrated audio/visual/VR multichannel sound reproduction and accurate device testing with SenseLabOnline ^TM.

Comfort and noise annoyance tests

Use the living room for listening tests that require longer stays in a more homely setting. The room is used for comfort tests and noise annoyance evaluations and can also be configured for Speaker Spinner tests, meeting room tests, or four additional listening test stations.

HATS recordings and noise tasks

Use the noise room for recordings on Head And Torso Simulators and for evaluation of ANC headphones and earbuds, noise reduction in smartphones and hearing aids, and 3QUEST and POLQA metrics. The room includes absorbers and diffusers placed to reach target reverberation time and diffusiveness.

Listening room: 95 m³, 37 m²

Provides controlled acoustic conditions with low background noise and limited reverberation, enabling stable and reproducible evaluation, recording and measurement conditions.

Loudspeaker systems and configurations

Includes Genelec loudspeaker systems supporting 2.0, 5.1, 7.1, 9.1, 11.1 and 22.2 formats as well as custom layouts and higher order Ambisonics (4th), ensuring consistent and defined playback conditions.

Listening booths: 4.7 m³

Two acoustically controlled booths provide neutral environments for listening tasks. The booths are mechanically decoupled from building structures to reduce vibration influence.

Living room setup: 68 m³

Multi-purpose room designed for extended listening sessions in a more relaxed acoustic setting while maintaining controlled conditions.

Noise room dimensions and acoustics

Room dimensions of 4.6 × 5.7 × 2.6 m with controlled reverberation time and diffuseness, supporting reproducible noise-related evaluation conditions.

Equipment and measurement systems

Includes Head and Torso Simulators, microphones, calibration systems, sound level meters and audio interfaces, providing a consistent technical basis for recordings and evaluations.

Facility setup

Configure rooms, loudspeaker layouts, headphones and HATS systems to match different listening, recording and evaluation tasks.

Listening room layouts

Select and configure loudspeaker layouts to match the test scenario, enabling comparison of audio performance under defined multichannel listening conditions.

Listening booth headphones

Use Sennheiser HD650 open headphones, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro closed headphones and Etymotic ER2XR earbuds to match different listening tasks and ensure controlled and comparable playback conditions.

Living room configurations

Configure the room as a living room setup, Speaker Spinner test environment, meeting room or as four parallel listening test stations, depending on the evaluation task and duration.

Noise room HATS setup

The noise room uses B&K type 5128, 4100 and 4128C, and GRAS Kemar 45BB for recordings and evaluation tasks.

SenseLabOnlineTM is the test platform used for accurate device testing and calibrated audio/visual/VR multichannel sound reproduction in the listening room.
