Perform corrosion testing of materials and components in controlled laboratory and autoclave environments.
Corrosion testing is used to evaluate how materials and components respond to corrosive environments under controlled laboratory conditions. The facility supports our work within material science and is relevant when corrosion mechanisms must be identified, corrosion resistance documented, or material behaviour assessed in relation to chemical, thermal or environmental exposure.
This applies both when standard corrosion tests are required and when laboratory conditions must be adapted to represent a specific service environment, including immersion exposure, salt-containing atmospheres and elevated-temperature autoclave conditions.
Documented basis for evaluation
The facility combines electrochemical corrosion testing, immersion testing, salt spray testing and large-scale corrosion testing of materials and components. It supports evaluation of corrosion behaviour, localised attack, cracking susceptibility and surface degradation in defined environments. Testing can be carried out according to recognised standards or through customised protocols when standard methods do not match the application.
This provides a documented basis for comparing materials, investigating corrosion-related failures and supporting technical decisions before use in demanding operating conditions.

Target group and benefits
Support companies with documented corrosion test data for material selection, comparison and technical evaluation.
The facility supports engineers, materials specialists and technical teams that need to evaluate metals, alloys, coatings, polymers or components in corrosive environments. The need arises when materials are exposed to liquids, salts, elevated temperatures or defined chemical environments that may influence corrosion behaviour, degradation or cracking. It is also relevant when standard methods must be applied to a specific material, or when a test setup must be adapted to match the intended application. For companies working with hydrogen applications, related material evaluations can also be carried out in our PtX-CCUS test facility.
