Standardised testing is performed to verify material properties and support documentation against specifications and relevant test requirements.
Testing may include:
- Corrosion test exposure, weight loss and electrochemical methods such as ASTM G48 and similarly ISO 17781, ASTM A923 C, ASTM A1084 C; ASTM A262 C (Huey test), ASTM A262 E and ISO 3651-2-A (Strauss test), ASTM G28, ASTM G36, ASTM D7548, ASTM G1 / ISO 8407, ISO 6509
- Salt spray testing according to DS EN 9227, ASTM B117
- Creep testing
- Coating tests covering adhesion, thickness, gloss and rust creepage
These tests are often combined with metallurgical investigation and mechanical testing in our accredited laboratories, as well as chemical analyses. For more detailed characterisation of surfaces, coatings or interfaces, the analyses can be supplemented with investigations carried out in our Surface Characterisation Laboratory.
These tests provide a consistent basis for evaluating metals, polymers, composites and coated components.
