The Data for Sustainability project will make it easier for companies to collect and manage sustainability data directly from production processes.
20 February 2025
Danish manufacturing companies face growing requirements to document their environmental impact. For many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), this is a demanding task that involves collecting and managing data that quickly becomes outdated.
“The project will help companies future-proof their production by delivering the necessary data accurately and efficiently. This serves two purposes: It helps ease the burden of regulatory requirements while also giving Danish companies a competitive advantage in a global market where demand for sustainable production and products will only continue to grow,” says Anders Kusk, Programme Manager at the Danish Industry Foundation.
Tailored support for 30 manufacturing companies
The project is led by Force Technology in collaboration with DI Production and the Danish Association of Marine Engineers. As part of the project, 30 manufacturing companies will receive tailored support in designing and testing digital solutions for the automated collection and processing of sustainability data. This will enable them to document the environmental impact of their products more accurately and, over time, optimise resource and energy consumption.
“Although compliance with sustainability reporting requirements is rapidly becoming an essential prerequisite for access to the European market, only a limited number of SMEs currently meet the upcoming requirements. This places many companies in a difficult position. The project will help them move forward by ensuring easy access to reliable data, strengthening their competitiveness and supporting business development. This includes the ability to document sustainability initiatives, contribute to digital product passports, and reduce emissions from production,” says Tommy Bysted, CEO of Force Technology.
New scalable solutions for sustainable manufacturing
The knowledge and experience gained through the project will be transformed into scalable solutions for the direct collection and processing of sustainability data from manufacturing systems, benefiting the wider Danish manufacturing sector.
The aim is to help Danish manufacturers take a leading position in circular production and realise the competitive advantages of a more data-driven approach to sustainability.
