Validate materials and components for PtX and CCUS systems under representative P&T and gas operating conditions.
The facility is used to test materials and components for PtX, CCUS and related energy applications under realistic service conditions. It is relevant when organisations need to evaluate behaviour in hydrogen, CO₂-rich gas and sour gas environments at high pressure and high temperature, or when combined thermal, chemical and mechanical exposure must be reproduced in the laboratory. Unresolved material or component behaviour can increase failure risk, delay qualification work and complicate system approval.
Testing for hydrogen and CO₂-rich environments
The facility combines HPHT systems, hydrogen exposure methods and component-specific setups for validation of metals, coatings, polymers, composites and larger components. It supports our services in materials science, including assessment of embrittlement, cracking susceptibility, material degradation, barrier performance and gas permeation under defined laboratory conditions. Testing can be carried out according to recognised methods or through customised setups when customer-specific validation is needed. This provides a documented basis for qualification, fitness-for-service evaluation and technical documentation before deployment in hydrogen and CCUS-related systems.

Target group and benefits
Supporting manufacturers, suppliers and operators with documented test data for hydrogen and CCUS systems.
Documented evaluation for system qualification
The facility supports manufacturers, system suppliers and operators in hydrogen, CCUS, oil and gas, energy and Power-to-X applications. It is relevant when companies need to evaluate components such as valves, pipelines, seals, coatings and structural materials in hydrogen, CO₂-rich gas or sour gas environments under realistic pressure and temperature conditions. It is also relevant when dedicated setups are needed to reproduce gas composition, flow, mechanical loading or other service-relevant exposure conditions.
Assess integrity before deployment
The outcome is documented test data on hydrogen embrittlement, hydrogen-induced cracking, corrosion in CO₂- and H₂S-containing gas environments, coating and barrier integrity, gas permeation and functional durability under controlled exposure. Related corrosion investigations can also be carried out in our corrosion testing facility when dedicated corrosion evaluation is required. The results can be used to compare candidate materials, assess component readiness, support qualification work and document performance before field use. Full-scale test setups and component-specific rigs can also provide information about behaviour and integrity where realistic combined loading and exposure must be reproduced.
