WIKA ensures the calibration of 36" cone flow meters

FORCE Technology can calibrate these large flow meters for demanding applications
WIKA's 36" FLC-FC cone flow meter uses differential pressure to determine flow. For this application, the cones were made entirely of Inconel and the spool and flanges were made in carbon steel, coated with the same corrosion-resistant alloy using the cladding technique that extends the product longevity with effective cost containment by avoiding the use of 100 % Inconel components. To be able to calibrate the meters, WIKA provided specially built upstream and downstream pipe spool adapters.
The two WIKA cone flow meters were calibrated using the MEGA loop at the Vejen facility, where our staff determined the discharge coefficient and its associated uncertainty through measurements under flow characteristics that replicate the Reynolds numbers expected in the real-world application. This process was undertaken to document the discharge coefficient uncertainty, which corresponds to approximately 0.5 % instead of the ± 5 % of standard reference value ensured by cone flow meters without calibration.
