SimFlex XR is the remote version of the physical simulator and is available 24/7 on the user’s own hardware. The setup is configured to the relevant hardware and software environment and can include remote simulator software access, access to the Operator’s Control Centre, PCs and monitors, a steering console for vessel manoeuvring and a VR headset. This gives the customer the practical simulator environment used for remote engineering studies.
Assess port and offshore renewable layouts remotely with SimFlex XR against real-world criteria to support fact-based project decisions.
Use SimFlex XR when port layouts, approach channels or offshore renewable projects need to be evaluated before resources are committed. For project teams working with maritime infrastructure, uncertainty at this stage can delay progress and make it harder to judge how a proposed layout will perform.
Remote studies in realistic maritime conditions
SimFlex XR enables comparison of multiple design scenarios under predefined criteria that reflect real-world conditions. It helps teams visualise strengths and limitations in each proposed layout and move forward with a more solid basis for evaluation.

Challenges
When layout options must be assessed early, uncertainty about real-world performance makes project choices harder to evaluate.
When layout is unclear, evaluation slows down
When a port layout, approach channel or offshore renewable project is still being developed, it can be difficult to assess how the proposed solution will work under realistic operating conditions. This can slow evaluation and leave teams uncertain about which option to progress.
When context is missing, limits stay unclear
Drawings and layout material alone do not show vessel behaviour, vessel interaction or changing environmental conditions in enough detail. Without realistic simulation, important strengths and limitations in a proposed layout may remain unclear.
When options multiply, comparison takes longer
Projects often need several layout options tested against the same criteria. Without a structured simulator setup, comparison work can become more time-consuming and make it harder to maintain a consistent basis across alternatives.
Benefits
Get simulation results that support layout evaluation and comparison across realistic operating conditions.
Compare layouts against the same criteria
Multiple design scenarios can be tested under predefined criteria that reflect real-world conditions. This makes it easier to compare alternatives on the same basis and identify how different layouts perform under equivalent assumptions.
