The CCUS industry (carbon capture, utilisation and storage) is developing rapidly, creating an increasing need to document the quality and purity of captured CO₂. While recipients of captured CO₂ have already established impurity specifications, there is currently no internationally recognised framework for quality-assuring the automatic monitoring systems used to measure CO₂ quality.
The technical report “Quality control of automatic monitoring systems on carbon capture plants” proposes a framework for quality assurance of such systems. The report builds on established principles from air emissions monitoring, including the quality assurance requirements and procedures described in EN 14181, and adapts them to the specific challenges associated with measuring impurities in pressurised and liquefied CO₂ streams.
The report is intended for plant owners, operators, technology suppliers, infrastructure operators and recipients of CO₂ seeking greater confidence and transparency in measurement results throughout the CCUS value chain.
