The role of metrology in critical times – resilience, preparedness and defence

Gain insights into how metrology supports security, preparedness and resilience. Metrology Day 2026 brings together experts, new knowledge and current perspectives.

In a time of increased focus on security, preparedness and resilience, metrology plays a crucial role.

At Metrology Day, we focus on how accurate measurements contribute to robust solutions, reliable decision-making and critical societal functions.

You will gain professional inspiration, current perspectives and concrete examples of how metrology is applied in both civilian and military contexts.

During the day, you can look forward to:

  • Keynote: Dr. V’yacheslav Shvaydak, CEO, Dropla Tech ApS: Demining
    with robotics
  • Measurement of signal and emission characterisation of drones
  • The future of secure infrastructure – quantum encryption and intelligent fibre sensing
  • Traceable temperature measurement for high-tech and defence production

In addition, you can explore current topics in our poster sessions, including:

  • Measurement of water content and agricultural resilience (GrainMet)
  • Metrology for air temperature – knowledge sharing across Europe
  • Metrology for sensor networks (EURAMET/FunSNM)
  • Metrology for resilient transportation - Reliable measurements as the foundation of safe and robust mobility
