GTS institutes continue strong growth

The GTS institutes (RTO - Research and Technology Organisation) delivered strong results in 2023 across almost all performance indicators. This is shown in the newly published performance report for the GTS institutes.

Commercial revenue from the Danish market, including both private- and public-sector customers, reached its highest level in five years in 2023. From 2022 to 2023, revenue increased by almost 14%, rising from DKK 1,431 million to DKK 1,631 million.

Strong growth in R&D funding

During the 2010s, the GTS institutes faced challenges in securing project funding from grants and foundations. However, this trend appears to have reversed. The positive development seen in recent years continued with an impressive 14% increase in R&D funding from 2022 to 2023.

As one of the largest GTS institutes, Force Technology also experienced this growth and achieved record-high R&D activity in 2023, with revenue of DKK 115 million.

More Danish business customers

The GTS institutes also saw a significant increase in collaboration with Danish business customers. The number of private-sector customers rose from 19,470 in 2022 to 20,648 in 2023, corresponding to an increase of 6%.

Force Technology contributed to this development by working with approximately 1,000 more customers in 2023 than in the previous year.

A total of 89% of GTS business customers are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), accounting for 58% of commercial revenue from the Danish private sector.

Large companies with more than 250 employees continue to purchase the largest services on average. They represent 11% of business customers and account for 42% of Danish revenue.
