Challenge

As a new entrepreneur, it takes great precision to navigate certification requirements and ensure that the product meets the necessary standards and is ready for the market.

Solution

With expert guidance, structured testing, and continuous adjustments, the certification process was completed efficiently, resulting in successful market approval.

Result

The Oakhill Weight System is now fully certified, market-ready, and has been adopted by a leading truck manufacturer in Northern Europe.

The Oakhill Weight System was developed to make load control more precise and is now used by a leading truck manufacturer in Northern Europe.

For truck drivers, control of load weight is critical. Overloading can result in substantial fines or immediate driving bans, while underloading reduces capacity utilisation and profitability. Yet many weighing systems still rely on manual methods, requiring drivers to leave the cab, walk back and forth to the vehicle, and often estimate the weight under time pressure.

After many years behind the wheel, Patrik Lundell experienced these challenges first-hand. He saw colleagues struggle to adjust loads manually and often feel uncertain about weight distribution. Determined to find a better solution, he began developing a wireless monitoring system capable of delivering accurate weight data directly to the driver.

From idea to groundbreaking tool for smarter loading

What started as a simple idea quickly evolved into a focused venture. The first prototypes had their limitations, including restricted range and inconsistent performance, but Patrik refused to give up. He taught himself electronics, designed his own circuit boards, and carried out countless tests until the system was reliable, accurate, and ready for the road.

Bringing the Oakhill Weight System to market, however, required more than technological innovation. It required certification in accordance with the industry's extensive requirements.

"As a new entrepreneur, certification can feel like an obstacle course – complex, time-consuming, and full of pitfalls. Missing just one requirement can lead to costly delays," says Patrik.

Taking the wrong certification path leads to delays and higher costs

Patrik initially started the certification process with a small local company but soon realised there were significant gaps in their knowledge and processes. He needed a partner that could navigate the requirements quickly and accurately while providing practical support throughout the entire process.

After hearing about our role in the development of BroBizz - the wireless toll payment system used across Scandinavia - he contacted us.

Expert support provided a fast route to certification

Our specialists guided Patrik through a structured process, identifying gaps, adjusting the certification plan, and verifying the product. From CE marking to compatibility testing and durability assessments, we covered all relevant requirements through comprehensive testing and close collaboration.

Patrik was also able to update the software on-site and implement necessary modifications in real time to meet regulatory requirements.

"Force Technology's experts prioritised my project. There were no waiting times – just direct access to the right expertise. It saved me valuable time and made the entire process fast and straightforward," says Patrik.

Key steps in the certification of the Oakhill Weight System

  • CE marking – to meet requirements for European markets
  • Vehicle compatibility testing – to ensure electronic compatibility
  • Software and hardware verification – to demonstrate reliable performance under real-world conditions

Certification as a foundation for future innovation

"Force Technology reviewed every detail and every standard, helping me take the product all the way through the certification process. Now that I have CE marking and complete documentation, I can use that foundation for future products. I know what is required and how to prepare," says Patrik.
