When packaging must protect goods during transport, there is a need to ensure and document its quality before shipment. The transport test facility is used by manufacturers who need to assess whether packaging can withstand relevant distribution stresses. The need for transport testing typically arises with new packaging designs, changes in materials, or when an internationally accepted test basis is required. 

Advisory and testing of packaging properties 

We provide advisory and testing of packaging properties, including ISTA-certified transport testing and related packaging tests, where the properties of packaging and packing are documented under controlled conditions. Unidentified weaknesses in packaging or packing can lead to transport damage, unnecessary use of packaging materials and increased warranty costs. Test results are used to reduce packaging material usage, minimise transport damage, reduce warranty costs and select optimal packaging materials before shipment. 

The facility supports manufacturers who need to document that packaging can withstand impacts from climate, vibration, shock, impact, compression and pressure variations during transport. Testing is used when packaging and packing must be assessed before shipment, or when investigating distribution-related stresses is needed. 

Test results are used as documentation of packaging properties and as a basis for evaluating packaging material selection and following up on transport damage. For companies working with ISTA processes, the tests provide an internationally accepted basis for assessing packaging properties.
