Event information
A professional community for companies that want to use reusable materials in electronic products.
We invite Danish companies that manufacture electronic products containing plastics to join a new network. The purpose is to provide participants with access to practical knowledge, methods, and professional sparring that can make it easier to work with circular design and recycling.
Within the network, we explore practical challenges, such as how to balance requirements for functionality against product lifetime and recyclability. Designing products with virgin materials that do not contain problematic substances is relatively straightforward. However, when using recycled plastics, a range of practical and regulatory challenges arise.
The Digital Product Passport
The Digital Product Passport (DPP) is part of the EU Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), which entered into force in 2024. The passport functions as a digital identity card that will accompany physical products (with certain exceptions) throughout their lifecycle. Its purpose is to ensure that relevant actors across the value chain can easily access and understand product information relevant to them. At the same time, it is intended to facilitate verification of product compliance by national authorities.
From February 2027, the Digital Product Passport became mandatory for batteries, with other product categories to follow, including textiles and furniture. Although many companies have already started preparing for the Digital Product Passport, the product-specific requirements have not yet been fully defined. This creates uncertainty and can make it difficult to determine where to begin. What information will be required? Which data must be included? And when will the requirements take effect?
At the next meeting of the network in August, we will therefore focus on the Digital Product Passport. We will explain what the Digital Product Passport is and review the general requirements for its content, including information on chemical substances. We will provide an update on what is currently known about the Digital Product Passport for electronic products and take a closer look at the framework surrounding the passport, as well as practical experiences from companies.
