From intuition to method and structure with audit training

Titan Wind Operational Support ApS in Varde has over 20 years of experience in tower manufacturing for the wind turbine industry. Over time, the company has expanded its business from solely tower production to now offering a full range of steel structures for the wind industry.

When Glen Jützler, a trained blacksmith and IWS, joined Titan Wind Operational Support, he faced a completely new task. He was given responsibility for ensuring the quality of the company's suppliers, both domestically and internationally.

"I was thrown straight into it. I had to conduct an audit at a foreign supplier, but I had never done it before. Everything was based more on gut feeling," says Glen Jützler, QC Manager at Titan Wind Operational Support.

Audit training as an eye-opener

For Glen Jützler, the audit training course was a necessary investment. He had no prior experience with internal or supplier audits, and the task felt overwhelming.

The training gave him a structured approach to the entire audit process, from planning to reporting. He learned how to develop an audit programme, ask the right questions, and handle deviations.

"I thought a programme was just a daily schedule. Now I know it is a strategic plan for the entire audit process," he explains.

The audit training was an eye-opener for Glen Jützler – not only because of the practical exercises and group work, but mainly because he participated alongside more experienced course participants.

"The others had more experience, which meant I could absorb a lot of knowledge. I was challenged – in a good way. I received a lot of input, and things are starting to fall into place," Glen explains.

A learning journey from uncertainty to confidence and professionalism

The audit training provided not only professional knowledge but also confidence. Glen now feels he can approach the task with calm and professionalism.

"Now I know what to look for. It brings peace of mind when I go out to suppliers. I can write a report, handle deviations, and follow up. It is no longer just talk and a short note," says Glen Jützler.

For Titan Wind Operational Support, Glen's new skills have enabled supplier management to become more professional and credible.

"We come across as more professional when we go out, rather than when everything is a bit based on instinct," concludes Glen Jützler from Titan Wind Operational Support, who is looking forward to attending a lead auditor course once he has become more confident with supplier audits.
