Power-to-X Safety Network: Invitation to network meeting
Join our network meeting, where we will bring together a strong lineup of speakers on the topic From Concept to Operation: Risk Management and Human Factors in PtX and CCUS Projects.
Time and place
Date: 5 May 2026
Time: 12.30 - 16.15
Host: Rolf Carstensen
Place: Tryg, Klausdalsbrovej 601, 2750 Ballerup
Registration deadline: 30 April 2026, at 12:00.
Topic
Our next network meeting will focus on how risk management, human factors and user perspectives support the development of products, technologies and solutions in safety critical sectors and how that can inform the design and operation of PtX plants.
As PtX projects move from concept development into engineering, implementation, and operation, it becomes increasingly important to understand how technical choices interact with user needs, organizational conditions and operational realities.
This network meeting brings together perspectives from industry, academia, and risk management practice to explore how human factors and risk-based approaches can be applied early and effectively in PtX projects.
The session will highlight how knowledge from product development, usability, research, and risk management can strengthen decision-making and contribute to safer, more robust and more usable PtX facilities.

Speakers
Presentation 1
- Jens Christian Andersen is process manager for device risk management at Novo Nordisk, with 20 years of experience in the field. His work focuses on applying risk management principles throughout the life cycle of devices. He is invited lecturer at DTU and serves as President for INCOSE Denmark, a society of systems engineers.
- Marie Rindom Dammeyer and Niels Christian Nilsson are usability engineers at Novo Nordisk with experience in the development and evaluation of drug delivery and medical devices. Their work focuses on applying human factors engineering, usability testing, and risk-based design principles to ensure safe, effective, and user centered solutions throughout development. Together, they bring a strong practical perspective on integrating human factors into real world device development and decision making.
Presentation 2
- John Robert Taylor is a prominent author and researcher specialising in human error within process plant design, operations, and risk assessment. He is based in Denmark and has over 30 years of experience as an operator, commissioning coordinator, and operations manager.
- Key Work: He developed the QRA Open software (for quantitative risk assessment) and the HAZEX software (for manual and semi-automated HAZOP and human error analysis).
- Publications: He authored 'Human Error in Process Plant Design and Operations: A Practitioner’s Guide' (2016), which focuses on SRK (Skill, Rule, Knowledge-based) models, error identification, and mitigation techniques.
Presentation 3
- Henrik Sønberg Fanø is Head of Risk Management Advisory at DNV Denmark. He works with risk management, process and occupational safety within energy, industry and infrastructure.
- Henrik has solid experience with HAZID/HAZOP, QRA, regulatory dialogue, decision support, and project management for the implementation of process safety. He advises both public and private actors in complex projects within highly regulated industries.
- Before DNV, Henrik built and led the Process Safety department at Ørsted with a focus on safety and risk management globally in large PtX projects.
