Accredited testing of syringes and safety boxes for vaccination programmes
Get your syringes and safety boxes tested and documented according to WHO’s PQS standards (Performance, Quality and Safety) to meet international requirements and prequalify for global use.
Accredited testing and documentation of syringes and safety boxes ensure that your products meet WHO standards for performance, quality and safety.
Correct testing and certification are crucial to ensuring your medical devices work as intended. Material changes can cause failures during retesting and lead to financial consequences if products do not meet the standards.
Syringes and safety boxes must be prequalified and registered in WHO's PQS database
Are you supplying syringes and safety boxes for vaccinations to WHO member states or UN procurement offices? Then your products must be prequalified and registered in WHO’s PQS database (Performance, Quality, and Safety).
Before a product or device can be listed in the PQS database, testing is required. This verifies that the specific product meets the relevant PQS performance specification.
FORCE Technology is accredited to perform various tests and trials and is a notified body for different product categories.
Accredited laboratory for testing syringes and safety boxes
As the only WHO-accredited laboratory in Europe, we test both syringes and safety boxes in the following categories:
- E008: Single-use injection devices and jet injectors (including sterile hypodermic syringes for single use in vaccination programmes)
- E010: Needle cutters
- E010/SB01.1: Safety boxes for the disposal of used syringes, needles and other injection materials
- E013: Therapeutic injection devices
Once your products have been tested and approved, they can be listed in the WHO PQS Device Catalogue.
Expert assistance with the testing services you need
As an accredited testing laboratory, we offer:
- Type examination
- Independent type testing
- Full quality assurance
- Material testing and consultancy.
We can assist with one or more of these services. PQS registration typically requires a combination.
We also offer advanced material testing to identify changes in materials and ensure your products meet standards, including:
- FTIR-ATR spectroscopy (Fourier Transform InfraRed – Attenuated Total Reflectance)
- TGA (thermogravimetric analysis).
International testing standards and global quality requirements
We adhere to international standards for syringe testing. The most relevant ones are:
- ISO 7886-3 for testing auto-disabled (AD) syringes for fixed-dose vaccination
- ISO 7886-4 for syringes with reuse-prevention feature.
These standards ensure that our testing methods comply with global quality requirements.
Production quality testing
In addition to the syringe and safety box tests required by WHO standards, we offer quality testing of your production.
We help verify whether your raw materials meet specifications or if your products meet the necessary requirements for consistent quality.
