With automation and digitisation, a new research project aims to optimise factory output at low cost in the green offshore wind energy.

4 August 2021

Due to the large demand for green conversion, the need for energy produced by offshore wind turbines is increasing. As the performance of wind turbines become greater and greater, the need for larger components for the turbines is also increasing, such as longer wind turbine blades.

Competitiveness is at the forefront of the Danish wind turbine industry, hence the research project AIOLOS is started by a new consortium consisting of Danish industry and academy partners. AIOLOS must ensure increased focus on automisation and digitisation in already existing factories to avoid costs increasing in proportion to the optimised production capacity, flexibility, and quality.

AIOLOS is implemented in Siemens Gamesa´s factory in Aalborg, Denmark and is expected to provide returns for the entire Danish wind industry with increased job opportunities within e.g. robot management and data analysis.
