Noise-optimised design
Digital technology and acoustic data is to support physical measurement of noise in order to optimise constructions, materials, facilities and structures.
Purpose
The project will combine digital technologies with acoustics data from traditional measurements and calculations.
The purpose is to create new services that can contribute to more rapid optimisation of constructions, materials, facilities, and structures, as well as serving as effective support tools for planning, feasibility studies, and decision-making.
Today, the field of acoustics and vibration is based primarily on laboratory and field measurements of physical objects and phenomena. By supplementing measurements with calculations and simulations, demands from target groups for a smoother, more dynamic process and more rapid market access can be met.
The physics of how sound sources and constructions function form the foundation for this activity. Calculations and simulations of sound generation, sound propagation, sound isolation, etc. will supplement or replace measurements, and the results will then be compared with human perceptions of sound and noise disturbance — which, to a certain extent, can be calculated in advance.
Target groups
The target groups for this activity span a broad spectrum, including:
- Manufacturers of machines, facilities, wind turbines, construction materials, and noise barriers
- Professional associations in the fields of construction materials, wind turbines, etc.
- Builders, architects, contractors, construction companies, and housing companies
- Government organisations, decision-makers, architects, and advisers
Previous projects
This activity is a continuation and development of the processes and results achieved in Result Contract 2016–2018: "The effects of sound on health and well-being".
