Risk and needs-driven calibration strategies (RiskKAL)
New strategies and methods for self-monitoring of meters and measuring equipment are intended to help Danish companies determine the optimum level of maintenance of measuring equipment.
Purpose
How often should a gauge be calibrated? And when should it be replaced?Often, equipment is not calibrated as needed, but according to the recommendation of the supplier, automatically or according to rules concerning consumption meters.
Deregulation of instruments for measuring consumption means that in the future it will be largely up to the instrument owner to ensure that the gauge measures properly. This development has created the need for the development of new strategies and methods of self-monitoring.
As an independent stakeholder with many years of experience in calibrating of process equipment and meters, FORCE Technology wants to build digital tools to help Danish companies determine the optimum level of maintenance of measuring equipment taking into consideration safety, risk, and economy.
Audience
The project has two main audiences:- Utilities and energy companies that both use instruments in their process facilities and are responsible for the meters locates at the consumers;
- The manufacturing industry, which uses a wide range of measuring instruments in production.
