Surfaces and interfaces of industrial products (OFGRIP)
New properties of materials must ensure better properties at the micro and nano level.
Purpose
The characterisation at the micro and nano level can contribute new and valuable knowledge and a basic understanding of the functional properties of materials. This is of great importance to understand the mechanisms that influence the durability and longevity of the materials, and why they decompose or fail.
In the project, we will develop new material properties, tools for characterisation, and consultancy services to understand and describe surfaces and interfaces at the micro and nano level, with a special focus on five key areas of characterisation:
- Abrasion resistance
- Friction
- Adhesion
- Particle formation
- Noise and vibration dampening
Audience
The project is aimed at the medico/pharma industry, characterised by high safety and quality requirements, and where the characterisation of materials at the micro and nano level is of paramount importance both in terms of product development and production. In addition, the project is relevant to companies that supply products and solutions for surface treatment where the surface and interaction with the adjacent material are essential for product characteristics and functionality.
