Calibration and verification
Manufacturers and importers of water meters, thermal energy meters, cooling meters, gas meters and other regulated measuring instruments must be able to document that their meters comply with applicable rules and standards before they can be used for billing. Type testing and type approval are therefore important steps when a measuring instrument must be approved for distribution in markets that recognise MID, the EU Measuring Instruments Directive, and documented as, for example, a MID-approved meter.
If the documentation is incomplete or the meter has not been type-approved in accordance with the relevant requirements, the product cannot be used for regulated billing, and bringing it to market may become difficult. Force Technology performs type testing in accordance with the MID Directive, EN standards and OIML documents and provides documented test results that can form part of the technical basis for type approval, CE marking and MID certification. Challenges
Meters cannot be placed on the market without approval

Service scope
Type testing is performed for regulated measuring instruments used for billing and trade. The service covers water meters, heat meters and cooling meters, gas meters, volume conversion devices, and systems for the continuous and dynamic measurement of quantities of liquids other than water. Both complete instruments and relevant configurations are included where required by the Measuring Instruments Directive (MID).
