Sartorius Stedim Biotech: DSS sensor modul og Sensolux system

Optical sensors are growing in popularity due to the low-cost, low power requirements and long-term stability. This is made possible by the availability of LED light sources in a wide spectral range.

An Optode is an optical sensor device that optically measures a specific substance usually with the aid of a chemical transducer. Optodes can apply various optical measurement schemes such as reflection, absorption, luminescence and more.

By far the most popular methodology is luminescence. The DDS module is optimized for Oxygen and pH sensing. The Optrodes are illuminated with blue and UV light respectively and responds at longer wavelength, known as luminescence. The oxygen Optrode will generate a shift in fluorescence decay versus change in oxygen concentration. The pH Optode will generate a color shift.

Luminescence sensor systems requires stringent optical design. The luminescence signal is often very low and requires high performance optical filtering. External disturbance, light and noise can be removed by modulation and succeeding signal processing. The processing will extract sensor response. Decay -Oxygen- and Color -pH-

The DSS module is a generic platform and useful for a variety of luminescence/fluorescence sensing jobs.

Mini Spectrometer

The basic function of a spectrometer is to take in light and break it into its spectral components. Off-the-shelf spectrometers are available from numerous vendors. Nevertheless, special performance might be required. This task can be performed by the CAP network.

The above spectrometer is optimized for blood analyses.

DELTA Roadsensor: GRX RetroReflectometer

Safe traffic flow is highly dependent on properly performing traffic signs and road markings. At nighttime on dark roads, the retroreflection of traffic signs and road markings are essential in guiding drivers to keep vehicles safely positioned on the roads.

This instrument, developed for DELTA RoadSensor, is based on LED technology. Nighttime optical properties present a special challenge if measured in full daylight. This substantial disturbance can be eliminated by signal processing. A processing only possible due to the properties of LED based illumination.
