Sound and acoustics consultancy for new construction and renovations

We offer architects, engineers, and contractors assessments and calculations of sound-related properties for whole buildings, parts of buildings, construction projects, and materials, both for new constructions and renovations. 

We can support you in designing for sound and acoustics from the start of your construction project, thereby avoiding the need for subsequent improvements to the interior acoustics — as these are generally both expensive and difficult.

We can help you meet sound requirements to ensure that the indoor acoustics are satisfying for the building's users. For new residential properties, schools, and institutions, the Danish Building

Regulations (Bygningsreglementet in Danish) indicate specific required values for sound isolation, room acoustics, and noise from technical installations.

Once a building has been completed, we can take measurements of the building's acoustics to ensure that the building has achieved the desired acoustic properties and adheres to the sound-related provisions of the Danish Building Regulations.

Verification measurements for acoustic isolation

The transmission of sound between residences ("neighbour noise"), classrooms, or offices can significantly reduce a building's use value. We can help you to ensure that you meet your desired or required level of sound isolation.

We perform verification measurements for acoustic isolation that account for airborne sound and floor impact sounds according to the DS/EN ISO 16283 series. We use a speaker as a sound source when measuring airborne sound isolation, while we measure floor impact sounds with a standardised impact machine.

Whole-room acoustics and acoustic management for spaces in buildings

Whole-room acoustics, or acoustic management for spaces, is highly significant to every room's use. In some rooms, minute adjustments may be necessary to make it possible to hear and understand music or speech. In others, the noise level from activities and loud voices may need to be minimised.

We perform acoustic measurements of spaces, including reverberation time measurements, according to the D/EN ISO 3382 series.

Noise from facilities

Noise from facilities like ventilation systems, heat pumps, or plumbing fixtures affects the experience of comfort in a building.

We perform noise measurements for all types of building facilities, in accordance with (e.g.) the DS/EN ISO 10052 standard, used for verification measurements as set out in the Danish Building Regulations.

Acoustic design

Indoor acoustics ought to be regarded on the same level as other building characteristics during building planning and design.

We would be happy to participate in an early design overview to help you avoid errors in acoustic design. In doing so, you will benefit from an experience-based assessment of acoustic solutions, as well as calculations of acoustic isolation and the acoustic characteristics of the space, in accordance with (e.g.) the DS/EN ISO 12354 series. We run our calculations using special software for building and space acoustics, which simulate acoustic conditions in buildings.
