Food safety and microbiology - consultancy and validation
Consulting within microbiological food safety, cleaning of production facilities, validation of cleaning procedures and hygienic design.
Just one out of control point in your production process may have serious consequences for the health and safety of the consumer, or for their experience of the quality of your product.
This may in turn result in poor press, legal claims and intensified inspections from the authorities. Thus, food safety must be considered in all operations and processes in food production.
Own control with risk assessment can ensure food safety
Risk assessment is an important part of own control, and a correctly performed risk assessment ensures that pitfalls in the production have been thought through, so that your own control works optimally and as intended.
FORCE Technology holds specialised knowledge on food microbiology, including detection and handling of pathogenic bacteria and of biofilm.
Furthermore, we provide consultancy on choice of materials, hygienic design of equipment, cleaning processes, including disinfection and sterilization processes, and on HACCP and management systems for food safety. We combine our knowledge on these subjects to optimize our advice regarding food safety, and quality, in your food production.
We consult on:
- Microbiological challenges in food production
- Handling thermophilic and thermo resistant germs in the dairy industry (a key area of expertise)
- Cleaning, disinfection and sterilization processes
- Cleaning validation
- Assessment of the results microbiological analysis
- Choice of materials for production equipment, based on the conditions during processing and cleaning
- Assessment of applied hygienic design in existing production facilities and in connection with new designs
- Documentation of food contact materials in equipment and packaging
- Design of production facilities
- Quality control in industrial laboratories
- Own control, quality and food safety management systems (ISO 22000, BRC and IFS).
Microbiological control and analysis
In food production it is often necessary to check the microbiological status of the production equipment, the raw materials, and the finished product, in order to document that the legal limits are observed.
We offer to perform sampling and microbiological analysis of the finished product, and of your production equipment, so that you can monitor the presence of any microorganisms that may present a safety or quality issue. We also provide sampling equipment and subsequent analysis, of samples that you collect yourself.
Customised analysis methods
In certain cases the normally applied tests methods for microbiological analysis are not adequate for detecting stressed microorganisms – such as the microorganisms from biofilm, which are a frequent source of recurring microbiological contamination. In our laboratory we take the time needed to adjust our methods so that the detection of stressed microorganisms is significantly improved.
When dealing with quality related issues it is often of great benefit to be able to determine the numbers and persity of microorganisms, in order to assess the root cause of the quality issue, and to evaluate possible solutions.
